The mode of study may be adapted to meet individual requirements.

Depending on local demand there are three possible options:

Option 1

Fully taught (recommended - particularly for applicants with little or no up-to-date knowledge of the subjects to be covered).   The full course will run over 3 terms, part 1 only will run over 1½ terms.

u     students attend for training on one full day per week, per term

Option 2

Home study/revision plus weekly practical workshops (suitable for those who prefer to study alone or who have a sound and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the subjects to be covered).   The full course will run over 2 terms, part 1 only will run over 1 term.

u     the theory content is studied at home via the V.L.E. (Virtual Learning Environment) or paper based workbooks

u     a topic or topics will be set each week which are to be studied prior to the following practical workshop

u     progress will be monitored by the course tutor who will be contactable via the V.L.E. and who will be available to explain any difficult areas during the following the practical workshops

u     students will then attend practical workshops on one day per week, per term for 2 terms

 

Option 3

Home study plus practical workshops (suitable for those who prefer to study alone or who have a sound and up-to-date knowledge and  understanding of the subjects to be covered). 

u     the theory content is studied at home via the V.L.E. (Virtual Learning Environment) or paper based workbooks

u     progress will be monitored by the course tutor either via assignments completed and marked on the V.L.E. or by the completion of short written assignments which may be posted to the tutor who will mark and return the assignment

u     students will attend 2 x five day practical workshops for each part
